Other modelling interests

Models of life history evolution in size-structured populations and evolution of male life histories.

I am focusing on models of life history evolution that are sufficiently general but capture the main trade-offs with sufficient detail and can be used as a baseline against which more detailed, species-specific models can be compared. Some of the models put emphasis on evolutionary questions and investigate several co-evolving traits. Others emphasize mainly the ecological details and use mechanistic descriptions of individual life histories to build up ecological dynamics that create the environment and eventually drive the selection.

Models of dynamics of sexually reproducing populations and population-dynamical consequences of Allee effects.

I have been working together on various population-dynamical implications of sexual reproduction and the Allee effect in single-species setting and in predator-prey interactions with Luděk Berec.

Models of population-dynamical consequences of optimal foraging.

My PhD thesis supervised by Vlastimil Křivan also dealt with population-dynamical consequences of optimal foraging behaviour.
